Plug was stripped out and a heli coil was put in very badly. Want to use it on a resto project.

There wasn't a 50hp built in 1966. There was the old Fat Fifty's built in '58 and '59 and the 50hp twin was re-introduced in 1971. Do you have a model number?

I've always used heli coils but there are other ways to repair a bad plug hole. Check with your NAPA dlr.

Give us a model number and maybe we can answer your question. There is no such thing as a 1966 50hp.

I used the solid threaded inserts to repair spark plug threads. You would need to remove the head and tap to receive the insert. You will need some epoxy on the insert to secure it in the head.

BTW - the 1958/59 Fat fifty is a V4, hence the reference to "Fat"
