Hello all, I recently bought a used boat with a 1966 Merc 950SS Thunderbolt, However most of the lakes around my house have a 9.9 limit, I am thinking about selling the motor. can anyone tell me waht a fair price is to ask for this motor, motor is running fine. I am not wanting to make a bunch of money off motor but I also dont want to just give it away, any help on this would be awesome.

While they are certainly cool motors, parts support for 60's Mercs isn't the best. If you can demonstrate it running and are including the controls, I'd start at $750 but take anything over $3-400.

agreed unless you get into the vintage motor collectors; they would pay more than the "daily driver."

I am having a hard time picturing a boat going from 95 HP to 9 HP--or better said, going very far....

At least you can run gas in them. Most of the lakes around here are electric only. I have to drag my boat 45 min. just to run gas. And yea, as a 60's merc owner, they are hard to find parts for, but they are out there! Love my old boy!

And EZ, I'd never sell my 650 for $3-400 :( But I have spent a lot of time and some cash maintaining it, so I know she is reliable.

i know its hard to picture that but alot of the lakes around less than 200 acres. and the purpose for the 9.9 is strictly to save a little time and save trolling motor battery while im fishing.

anyway, thanks all for the advice.
