Re: F4MLHY yamaha outboard year 2000

i got the cylinder head back on and fired it up. from cleaning out the water passages. the engine had a rattle noise in the rocker arm area. so i pulled the valve cover off and noticed the rocker arms loose. so i reset the valve clearance to specs. i dont think the cam is set to the valves right. anyone have any tips on making sure its right?

I'm pretty sure the cam is geared directly to the crank. (no timing chain). Find the flywheel alignment marks, check and see if you have TDC and reset the valve lash. Maybe you can make an adjustment once you get it running.
