Have 2 Mercury 6 cyl (just the powerheads) 70's thru the 80's how do I identify them?

I have a powerhead that was given to me, that the previous owner couldn't remember what year or horsepower it was, and I have another engine that I bought that had the powerhead changed and supposedly its a 200hp.. Are there markings on these powerheads that would give me the year and horsepower ratings? I can walk up to an older Pontiac V8engine and tell you the year, cubic inch, horse power rating, and if it was mated with a manual or automatic trans.. Mercury must have a way to ID their engines.. I can tell you that the motors are rom the late 1970s to late 1980s.. Any help would be great. Thanks - Rob

You can look on the powerheads for a disc like this:

I don't know if it will be on the '70s model but should be on the 80s.

If you do find something, please post back and let us know how many cylinders the engines have.

Thanks Gerry..

I actually have 4 engines and I would like to check all of them.
Two of the motors have the plugs both are suppose to be 175hp
B313889 AND 5968095
The other 2 are suppose to be 200 or 225hp engines, no plugs, any other way of identifying them?
