thru transom exhaust

I am looking at going thru the transom with exahust instead of thru the outdrive. I really like to hear my 351 ford bark b ut need input on parts needed to go thru since I do not see anyone doing this anymore. this is on my 1978 formula thunderbird with omc outdrive
any and all info would be good

Ayuh,.... Yer manifolds/ risers are Not very conducive to goin' to thru-hulls....

Ya pretty much need Center Riser style manifolds to have room for the piping...

Maybe trade-up 10-12 years . . . The Formulas in the late 1980's up thru 1990's had Thru-hull exhaust into the swim platform. A set up they called "Silent Thunder". It is a pretty good arrangement IMHO.

omc selectrim and thru hulls aren't really compatible.
someone here years ago posted pics of a sliding riser they designed so the engine and drive could tip. tons of stainless fabricating and welding though.
