Bought a new Hummingbird 650 depth gauge. It has three wires, the one it is replacing is a Hummingbird 600, it has two,
The 650 has a braided wire, black and red wires. The 600 has a braided wire around a single wire rubber coated. Looks very much like a cable for the TV.

Question, is there any way to connect the new wire to the old transducer. I have been told that the transducer rarely goes bad and that it is normally the gauge itself. I have replaced the old gauge and would love to use the old transducer if possible as it is going to be a bear of a job to rewire and epoxy the new transducer in the bilge.

Any suggestions or do I just need to get dirty, and start cussing like a sailor. This two hour job will surely take 3-4 easy!!

Thanks in advance!
