Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and boats. Picked this little thing up for $100. Not to sure exactly what it is. Body looks like a conqueror 105, but slight differances. The front deck is flat unlike the 105s, and the paint and graphics is like no 105 I've seen. Also the last couple digits of the HIN number indicate its a 79????. anyone have a clue exactly what this is. Id like to restore as much of it as I can. What size motor came on this thing? Anyways, ill get more pics as I tear into it.

Awesome hull. (I've got no info for you though). Despite their obsolescence, you really must hang a big Chrysler outboard on it.

According to title its 16ft. The hulls in decent shape. A few gel coat chips here and there. Someone has redone half the floor and the transom. They did a real crappy job on the transom. I will end up cutting it all out and redoing it. as far as the motor is concerned, I think ill slap a 100hp johnson I already have on it for this year, but eventually would like to put a big chrysler back on it.

Sorry for the fuzzy pics.
I will hopefully start a build thread before too long.

You're gunna need a transom for sure!! That may be the biggest Splashwell I've ever seen on a 16' boat!!!! You might want to consider doing some modifications to it since you'll be doing a complete gut job on the boat and removing the top cap.

Awesome project! I can't wait to see this one when it's done. I agree with WOD, that splashwell is huge!

Good find! I would have guessed a few years older, but defiantly 70's. I've always been partial to closed-bow boats and yours has nice lines. With 100 to 135 hp it should be a quick little boat and make a great ski-rig.

I bet it's a 1977 Conqueror 105 OB

It was available in a dark blue gelcoat, had the teak step pad inserts on either side of the OB, has no hand rail @ the bow, and 1 Gi-Nor-Mus splashwell. Brochure recommended the Chrysler 105hp OB.

If your in Calif, you can rent the space under the splashwell to a family of 3 for a couple hundred per month to help off set the resto costs.

Nice looking hull, like the aft swoop at the rubrail.

I missed a good Conqueror & Merc 650 by about 12 hrs....

Good luck w/ the project.

I hope its ok if I just turn this into the build thread. Today I removed the cut out section of the splash well that the previos owner cut to "repair" transom. It had been glued back in overlaping it one inch all around. Then I was able to see the section of wood they tried to replace.

I have thought about changing the splash well area up a little, but havent come up with that grand idea yet. Lol. any suggestions? My best thought was an I/O setup with a small all aluminum block v6 turbo . Lol. Ok I know im gettin caried away.

I then got saw zall happy and proceeded to cut a hole in the deck to take a look at stringers. After tearing thru a layer of glass, plywood, expanding foam, all thanks to previos owner, I then got too another layer of glass. Once thru that I found the foam blocks that were saturated. Stringers are completely rotton. It amazed me how much those foam blocks weighd full of water.

In this pic theres water in that hole at the bottom right corner.

Re: 1979???? Chrysler conqueror newbie

I think that Chrysler had some 'double hulled' boats w/ foam between the 2 layers. It was in some of the info from the Chrysler Crew site. Had some nice looking boats, and some real dogs, esp the party barges.

Under your 1st post, hit reply, then click the Go Advanced tab at the bottom of the post window that opens. In the advanced posting window at the top, you should be able to change the title of this thread to whatever you think more appropriate to a rebuild thread.

What was under this huge splash that it was so big? It looks bigger then what you'd need to trim a tall Merc 6cyl tower of power up. I've seen sun pads that are smaller....

Official welcome to Dry Dock.

I tried to follow directions to change the thread title, but no luck. I got a error saying not enough content. Do I have to retype the whole first post?

Anyways, havent done anymore to the boat this week.......but I did pick up this thing.

Its a 115. these pics are as is when I got it. I have since cleaned it up and greased everything, checked points, timing, plugs, etc....... Looks to be in good condition. I dont think I did to bad for $150. Havent checked compression yet tho.

Re: 1979???? Chrysler conqueror newbie

Another thing Chrysler touted as a safety feature in addition to the foam filled after assembly hull was the full BIA recommended size splash well for outboards. Its almost as big as the deck over a 4 cylinder I/O.

The reason I searched for this topic is I found a Conqueror SIII outboard that is like new! Now to talk the original out of it assuring him it will be well cared for. :D
