1977 55hp evinrude HELP!!

I have a 1977 55hp evinrude outboard on a 15ft bass boat. Last few times we took it out it will not go faster than 25mph. All previous times it was going around 31 mph or so. The rpm's have also gone from 5200 down to 4600 or so.

What in the world would be causing this? I rebuilt the carbs but it did not help.

Where are the high speed jets in this particulate model?

Any advise would be great!

Have you checked compression yet? My 90 lost 4 mph and I pulled one plug and it was toasted...lost one cylinder but the motor was still running.

When you rebuilt the carbs they were the ones in the bottom of the float chamber, remember those? Should both be 54D's unless you boat at altitude.....i doubt this is the problem though, have you tested the spark?
