I found this 1983 Johnson 7.5hp at a local marine store never used with the manufacture's tags still on it. Apparently a customer brought it in recently who had "won" it 29 years ago and had no use for it. It clearly has never been used. I plan to run it on a zodiac. Should I run it or am I ruining some special value?

Wow that's cool. It's not a "collector" motor like finding a crate unused race engine. Run it, isn't that why you bought it? Now if you paid $10for it and could sell it for 100x that amount do it, financially that would make sense.

same sorta debate came up here sometime back when a guy bought a 6 hp. off ebay and it was still in the original shipping carton < seems like it was an early '70's model > last pic I recall him posting he'd bought a stand for it and it was in his business office...I see them as special and would buy a "used" one to run...
