I have a 1997 9.9hp Force that runs well except after idling for a while and then trying to throttle back up such as after trolling . It seems to go lean and die. I noticed that the engine was almost cold after I got off the lake so I checked the thermostat and found that it had been removed. So I'm thinking that after idling and pulling cold water through the engine and not building much heat, that the engine cools off and needs choke to get going again. I've replaced the thermostat with the correct 105 degree one but haven't been back on the lake yet. Do you think I'm heading in the right direction? If I don't let it idle too long it will throttle back up normally.
