volvo 280 impeller question

I just realized that the volvo 280 lower unit doesn't have an impeller, it's on the engine. I noticed my motor running warm the other day while at idle, and i figured it would be a good idea to change the impeller. Now is where i run into a problem. My motor was replaced by the p/o with a quicksilver repower, so the whole motor is mercruiser...wiring harness and heat exchanger are mercruiser parts. if it's the merc water pump is it going to have the power needed to suck the water all the way up?
I'm only asking because I want to get a jump on things tomorrow, I won't be able to look at it until the afternoon.

Re: volvo 280 impeller question

Yes, it should work fine. Those pumps typically pull through the outdrive when the Mercruiser used the Bravo drives.
