Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum and to boat ownership and i was hoping you could help me. I've got a 12ft mfg boat that I've been restoring and i picked up a 35 Evinrude golden jubilee outboard. My question is that the control cables i have now are not the correct ones and i don't know if i can just buy a conversion kit because there are no ends, only thin wires sticking out. Will i have to buy whole new cables or is there something i can do with them. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but i just want to do it right and make it as best as possible while saving what i can in my wallet. I have to run new wires and a ignition switch (there's no key with the one that came with the boat). Is there anything else i should know before diving in? Thanks for all and any help. oh and the picks are from before i started restoring everything so they're not pretty.

You likely just need the ends, I can see the mounts already on the motor. Are the cables long enough?

You can buy them new, but you could also try a boat salvage yard and pull the connectors off.

Yeah the cables are def. long enough I actually had them stuck into the brackets, but will conversion kit work on it? i looked at a couple on different sites and i don't see how they would hold onto the wire, and they had a weird tube with them.TEL-CA27319P_med.jpg

that was informing but it still didn't say if a conversion kit would work, anybody have one and can tell me how it connects? Does it go right on the thin wire or is there more to it? thanks again.
