Where does the shield drain wire go?

All,

Installing a GPS 17x antenna to a new Garmin 4208. Directions require a small NMEA network which consists of 3 of the "T" connectors. No big deal. However, there is a power cable that needs to be connected. Black to Ground, Red to Positive....... but what is the bare cable marked "BARE: SHIELD TO GROUND?" I realize it is some sort of additional ground, but can it be grounded to the same grounding block as the black ground wire? I assume this is ok but I'm not sure. I have no other place to ground it.

Any thoughts?

Yep shield is nothing more than the wire wrapped around the serial cable to block interference.... just ground it with the black
