johnson 93 15hp wont idle!

Hi,

Just bought a 93 15hp Johnson motor and was running a little rough so i turned the carby idle screw to pick the revs up but now it cuts out at idle, and when i do get it going it dies when i give it throttle. It runs good at mid to top speed.
Please how do i set the screw that i mucked around with right again?

Turn your idle screw all the way in but do not over tighten, just lightly seat it. Back it out about one and a half turns. That is a good place to start. Then turn in 1/4 turn increments either way until she idles nice and smooth.

On those late plastic toped carbs I have found that you need to back them out at LEAST 3 turns as the threads are a lot finer than the early metal topped carbs.
