A couple of items, Have you confirmed that the boat is leaking from the rivets? Do you have access to the inside of the boat? meaning is the deck out of the boat and you can access the interior of the rivets. Most of us have used Gluvit to seal from the interior of the boat.

When i did the restore on mine, Gluvit works really well. I haven't seen anybody use anything on the outside of the boat, i've only seen people seal from the inside.

Also Be sure to check the condition of the rivets, if they are loose then i would strongly suggest brazing them prior to the sealant.

Give us some more details as well. How much water is it taking on? pictures of the leaks if you have them, etc..

Is this an open jon or does it have a deck?

The correct way to fix a leaking rivet is to rebuck it but if the boat has a deck that could be a chore, first you need to find where it is leaking from to know where to fix it.

I would get some water in it and I am talking 2''-3'', water is really heavy so you need to be carefull, and start marking leaks, the drain the hull and buck them btu you need to get to the inside of the boat to do this.
