Have a 1971 Merc 800 that is in need of a new waterpump. The impeller was replaced 3 summers ago but the base housing and upper housing were not replaced then. The seals in the lower housing are shot.

Want to replace the entire pump assy (upper, lower, impeller, gaskets etc) but having trouble finding the right numbers.

From what I've determined, the base housing is 46-48747 and a "repair kit" is 46-96148 but does not include the housings.

iBoats lists a Sierra 18-3317 with both housings BUT the base housing is shown as 46-57234. Not sure if these two housings (46-48747 and 46-57234) are compatible.

Bottom line is that I need a number for the complete waterpump assy (base, upper, impeller, gaskets, seals etc). The lower unit has the FLUSH port in it.

Thanks for the input.

Your not going to find a lower base aftermarket you will have to go to a OEM part or replace the seals in lower housing. You need a 18-3517 water pump kit which gets you most of what you need except lower base. The old seal #'s are 26-31489 and 26-31507 and the o-ring is 25-30224....

OK thanks.

Replacing the seals is a lot cheaper than the base assy.
