Hello,

I have a 1998 volvo penta AQ205A and it will not start. i took it out last night and it would not start. I noticed a burning smel coming from the battery compartment and the positive lead was hot and the positive terminal on the battery was so hot that the plastic had actually melted a little. the battery is only 3 months old and the boat ran just tow weeks before. any trouble shooting suggestions?

What do you mean by won't start? Will the starter turn the engine and it just doesn't start running, or the starter doesn't turn the engine at all.

Ayuh,.... That's because that terminal is Corroded, 'n needs cleanin,...

Clean it to shiney metal, both sides, then try it...

if the case is melted a bit, you will be needing a new battery. that is not a warranty return either.
