I have a 1994 Sea Ray 180 bow rider with a 4.3 MerCruiser and an Alpha One Gen II drive. While removing the old gimbal bearing I managed to chip off a piece of the housing in the space behind the bearing where the seal goes. I then patched the hole with J-B Stik Weld and sanded it smooth. Will this be a problem now or even sometime down the road? Does the housing have to be replaced or will it be ok? Thanks

First of all that is not really a seal, just a shield to contain excess grease. From the pictures I would say you are good to go. As long as the gimbal brg. seats properly and you can get the boot to clamp and seal I would not worry about it.
Clean the corrosion out of the shift cable tube.

Sounds good thank you! Just curious, whats involved in changing the housing? Does the motor have to come out?
