Should water be coming from this area?

Engine is 150EXEDB. I installed a new water pump on this engine for the first time. Used a full kit, not just an impeller. Also installed new thermostats. Running it on the muffs we have very strong telltale flow but also water is pouring from the area circled in the photo below. I don't know if it was doing this before the water pump change. And I don't know if this might be normal.

From what I heard in the past, that is normal.

Cut down you water flow from the household water line. You have more water pressure on muffs than normally with the motor's water pump & the cooling system can not accept it all so water is blowing past the water pump outlet grommet.
