MERC 1984 115HP LOWER UNIT PARTS (S/N) 6525876) Anyone know where I could get a set of all lower unit gears or a complete good lower unit or a quality rebuilt lower unit
I have tried the internet and could not come up with stuff of that age. It has to be available, I just don't know how to find it.
I trashed all gears

If you dont have the shimming tools to reassemble it your wasting your time as they will trash again..You cannot install new gears on old shims as the gears may be cut more/less thus the shimming procedures. Best bet is to get a used unit off a 90/115hp as they are 2:1 ratio and new parts are over $500 and older parts wont fit due to the driveshaft design as these gears as designed to push apart, thus the upside down driveshaft bearing...
