I need a boat for this summer while I finash my other project.
He will trade a 2003 kx 85 for boat
Talked to him on phone - says rot is minor two small pieces of deck and she would be good.
boat is suposed to be solid with good transom.

Save you? If I've learned anything from iBoats it's that two rotten spots in the deck probably equates to a rotten transom, deck, and stringers regardless of what the owner says. Plus no seats and rough gel coat. I wonder why the seats are gone...if they were damaged from continuous exposure to the weather the wood is a complete loss.

I always get a kick out of people selling something - "all it needs is ...."; "easy fix.....". If it were so easy to fix then why don't they fix it themselves????

That boat has problems, don't touch it.

You could part the boat out for more than what your little kx is worth so it would be a net gain if the engine runs alright and the trailer si in good shape but I really doubt the boat has 2 soft spots, they are like mice, if you see one you know there are alot more that you didn't see.

Unless you are commited to strip and rebuild this boat or part it out walk away.

I'd pick it up for the motor and trailer which I would then use on an aluminum hull.

well I went and looked for the hell of it.
stearing was stuck owner said it had power stearing and would work when motor was running.
also rot was very presant. owner said she would be fine if i kept her dry:facepalm: haha
regardless i went in with caution and came home empty handed
