Well, I got 'er done. I went through the lower unit and re-sealed it, installed a new waterpump and put new coils in. I gave it a few pulls and it sputtered. So I figure it should start, as soon as I put it in the barrel. It's amazing how good of condition this motor was, when I tore everything down. A low hours engine, by golly.

Yea, I could,'t believe how immaculant this motor is inside. One hick up was caused from a rod bolt that backed out. I had some new locking plates made at work, out of 18 guage stainless, so this should never happen again. :D I still have 60 more of these lock plates, so I'm set for several more outboard rebuilds. If I need more made, I just need to let my laser operator know and he'll cut me another batch before he clocks out for lunch. LOL
In the near future, I'll get a can of paint and touch it up, so it'll look a little nicer.

Well, just an update here. I put in the barrel and tested it out and everything tested out great. The gear oil even stayed clean.

Thanks bro. If you need any advice, let me know. Those '57 Johny's are great motors. ;)

How did you come out on that 15 of yours?
