I have one soft spot in a floor that was redone a year ago. 78 robalo, stringers and floors redone. Looks great, , the guy who replaced the deck, left a 2 inch lip all the way around then laid the new floor on the new stringers and the lip. on the port side where the new floor meets the lip it has seperated and caused a soft spot. Whats the best way to fix it?

Re: soft spot

If everything was redone a year ago, I would bring it back to the guy who did the work.

Re: soft spot

any soft spot needs to be cut out.

if the deck is soft after a year, he really missed something

but i dont under stand.....did he lay the new floor on top of the lip, or even with the lip and glass to it.

Re: soft spot

It sounds to me like he laid the floor UNDER the lip and if so, it could be that it has separated from the lip and just needs to be reglassed. We really need a better explanation(pics would be the best) of what is actually going on.
