Do I have to remove the outboard in order to remove the TNT unit?

I just did orings/wiper on trims and ran about 2 quarts of ATF thru to purge old fluid. The started thinking I need to do the tilt rings also.

My manual says I have to remove motor in order to get to tilt tube. Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have to remove the motor. I got my PTT unit off by moving the port stern bracket out.
For safety, you need some way to secure the motor in the up position. I used straps overhead.
Don't depend solely on the locking lever. There's a couple of pics below, to help explain how I
did it.

dont forget to remove steering tube and fastners or loosen enough to work.
