Hi all,

I have a 2009 SeaRay 205 with Mercruiser 5.0L and 180 hours on it.
It starts fine when cold but when hot or warm (stopping 3 hours or so) will not start. The only way I can get it to start is to manually adjust the idle screw where it then starts and idles fine. The problem is that if I leave the idle screw in that position, the idle speed is too high when the engine is cold.,.

Does anyone have any suggestions.? Could it need the carbs setting up?

Thanks in advance

Daniel

Instead of adjusting the idle speed adjustment screw, just give it some throttle to start it.

Hi Don, thanks for the reply - this may sound stupid but I'm not sure how to give throttle without it going in forward or reverse? The throttle lever appears not able to go forward without selecting forward or reverse?

There is usually a button (Not obvious on all controls) similar to the one pictured below. From neutral, push the button in and move the throttle lever forward, that is the throttle only position. When you bring it back to neutral, it will re engage the shifter.
