After reading many of the posts I have built up the courage to start my own restoration. I believe it's a 71 or 72 Stinger I dont have any paperwork. It was given to me by my neighbor and well it needs a lot of work. I started by taking the two halves apart and all the interior out. It's going to be a father sons project this winter. I'm going to try and post as many pictures as I can starting with these. Any advice you can send my way will always be appreciated.

First do you have Titles to Boat and Motor?
Second does the Motor run. That would be my first priority. Is that a Chrysler motor? Do you have the lower unit for it? What HP? If so Parts and Working on em is not the best.
Third, Have you core sampled the transom?
Fourth are there soft spots in the deck?
Fifth R U planning on doing the re-upholstery work or jobbing it out?
Finally check the link in my signature for recommendations on how to do the restoration of Transom, Decks and Stringers.

Now today I have taken out the floor and the stringer. How much of the old fiberglass do I need to grind out before I can replace the stringer and then floor?

Thanks Woodonglass. I dont have title she lost it a long time ago. It hasn't been registered since 94. That is a chrysler 45 Magnapower but its missing the lower drive unit I am goin to have to find another period correct motor. Good news is the motor isnt seized. The deck os strong all the way around, the transom is soft it will have to be replaced also as far as upholstery I'm leaving that too those who know how to do it well.
