The transom mount on my 9.9 hp Evinrude is real hard to tilt up. I tried to dissassemble it but the hinge bolt wont come out. Is there some unknown set screw that I'm missing?

unsreav bolt and tap with hamer-use smaler bolt while hammer typing to not destroy thread
aply some penetrating oil or wd40 on friction washers and slowly move up and down
on mounting bracket are 2 grease hole connectors-unscreav them and apply in this hole some penetrating oil

Get some PB Blaster on it and let it sit over night then tap the bolt out, as Raczekp said use something on the end of the bolt so you don't bugger it up, the smaller bolt is a good idea or even a peice of wood, it has been in there for 36 years so it is going to take some work to get it out.

Once you get it apart clean everything up really good and grease before you put it back together and there should be zerk fittings on the mount, hit them with some grease once or twice a year.

Thanks you for your reply. I have whacked on it seveal time to no avail. I might be overly cautious not to damage the threads on the bolt..again (sticks out enough to get a die on the end and clean it up). I might try a barrel nut on it and pound on that.
The drawing that Raczekp attached didn't come out well. Can you resend it to me or tell me where to find it?

Well it took some doing but I finally got that bolt out. Lots of corrosion holding it in. I used some State Chemicals penatration oil called PENN. It is a clorinated penatrant and it seemed to help on the thread side of the bolt. Couldn't get any penatration on the other side. I had to use a barrel nut re-tapped for a 3/8-24 thread and then screwed it on the bolt to hammer on. After a week it moved a little and I got mid-evil on it and out it came. No too much damage to the threads. Now I have to clean off the rust and corrosion, treat and paint.
Thanks for the advise!
