dies at high speed

This is probably a repetitive question but what would cause an outboard to idle fine but die at high speed? This is a '59, 50 hp Starflite.

Fuel starvation.<br /><br />Adjust float level or rebuild fuel pump or look for air leaks or make sure there isn't vacuum in the fuel tank...<br />Dirt in the high speed jets is also possible. <br /><br />Can't see if you have a pressurized fuel tank or fuel pump.
