I have a 2004 225 efi 2 stroke. For some reason the telltale does not put out any water, either on muffs, in a bucket or in the water...the engine runs cold, about 90 or so...i checked out the telltale, no clogs. I ran it all day with it never getting above 96 in the chesapeake bay, usually runs around 125 or so. I also noticed lots of oil smoke, ran rough at low speed. I assume due to the eng never warming up?
I do not know how the water is routed, possibly a thermostat issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: merc 225efi telltale problem

when was the impeller last changed, if recent possible transfer tube from water pump up to motor could have issues, thermostate may be stuck open, but you should see it pee .

Not sure when impeller last replaced, I've had the boat 2 years and have not replaced it. It's probably due, may have 600 hrs on it. I'll try and replace it, as well as the thermo.... Odd that it does not overheat though...thx for the reply...
