water pump? 69 evinrude 6hp

ok call the local boat store they couldnt help so i have a 1969 6hp evinrude fisherman im replacing the water pump and i guess they now use a smaller inpeller that fits in a metalhousing that fits in the housing itself my ? if in the service manual for this motor staring from the gear case going up it shows gasket,bearing housing,plate,impellerthen housing....so the gasket it come with if i were to put it were it says to in the manual its covers the hole.....anyone install these new water pumps it looks like i should go bearinghousing,plate,gasket,impeller with the housing thanks for any info

The new impeller is indeed, smaller in diameter. Pull the old water pump assembly out first, to make sure of the size. If it has been replaced previously, it could be the newer type. If not and you can not get the older, larger impeller, you will have to buy the entire water pump kit. That will have all of the parts that you need.

exactly what i was looking for looks like i just need the very bottom gasket.. what do you guys use to hold/seal the gasket in place peremtex?
