wanted advice on a craigs list 89 120hp evinrude to buy or not

well found a 89 120hp engine add says ran fine two years ago compression 110lbs all cylinders has power tilt and trim controls no key no way to start

its 600.00 bucks just wondering if anyone has an opnion on this

Well, the compression numbers are good, but, how was the compression test done without the ignition key? If it were me, I would bypass the switch (hot wire) and see if it'll run before dropping 600 on it. If you buy it without hearing it run and seeing the actual compression test done, be prepared, you can drop another 600 on it in a real hurry. Personally, I would probably buy it and fix it myself, but, I can't advice you to do the same.

Everything always ran great the last time. Personally I'd wanna hear it run. It's purty easy to 'hotwire' an OB?

600.00 is a pretty good buy but myself id like to hear it run for sure .I also would like to know how the compression test was done or when . see if you can pull the heads and look at the cylinders to inspect them set of head gaskets pretty cheap also you could pick up ignition switch pretty cheap also

As far as I know fresh water engine from ohio which is where I live

I guess I've been around to long but I would want to hear it run before I bought it. You could be buying " A can of worms ".
