I have an 84 115 hp , Do I have to take the engine off the boat in order to remove the trim and tilt from the back side ? I already loosened the tilt tube and removed the six bolts that mount the unit . but it looks like it won't come out forward . I need to replace the three bolt electric motor.

Thanks

No need to remove the engine.

Have the engine tilted up to its extreme height and lock it there.

Remove the pin from the top of the center tilt cylinder, then lower that tilt cylinder ram.

Remove the six retaining bolts.

Make sure the manual release valve is screwed in to clear the transom bracket.

Disconnect the wiring as needed.

Tilt the top of the PTT unit back and down, out of the engine. That's it
.
