1993/1998 lower unit compatabiity

I am looking to find a replacement lower unit for my 1998 25 MSHW yamaha. i have found a 1993 for parts but not sure if Yamaha engines are part crossover friendly. The part numbers are identical up to the last two letters and I am not sure of the designation. Any input or contact info will be appreciated. Thanks

According to the 03 Tech Guide you need a model number 94 or higher, just make sure you get your shaft length and gear ration verified.
