Re: 1964 Motor Identification

Apparently a Short shaft motor And from my research it may be electomatic shift.
(a thin pointed gearcase) These are ok with proper care but can be problematic and the remote may be hard to find.Also gearcase parts may be rare.I personally would avoid the Electromatic though I haven't had any personal experience with one.
One of the first things mentioned in serviceing the Electromatic is the batterty and charging system must be in tip top condition.

Re: 1964 Motor Identification

Almost. It is a long shaft.
V4 = well it means it is a V4
M = 90hp
L = Long shaft
-10 = it is a 1964
S = nothing, don't worry about it.

Has a four barrel carburetor, expensive to repair (parts cost).

Has the 20 amp alternator, simple enough if you understand it. A head scratcher if you don't. See remark about the junction box.

There is nothing wrong with the Electramatic shift if in good condition. If neglected or abused, it will cost $$$ as will anythng else that is neglected or abused. If it does not include the Electramatic remote control and junction box, it is not a complete motor. That stuff is worth as much as the whole rest of the motor.
