Hi Guys,

Well, Summer is for all practical purposes over and along with it boating (except for those of us lucky enough to live where Winter doesn't visit) So yesterday decided to Winterize the motor.....which of course included changing out the lower unit oil, removed the plug and out came milky oil.....rats. To make matters worse, boat didn't see 10 hours of use this year!. Not good.

So my question is, what needs to be changed and how hard is it going to be?

Before you get too concerned, make sure the nylon orings on the drain and vent screws are in good shape. If they are worn, water can leak around them. If they look to be intact, you can have a marine shop do a vacuum and a pressure test to confirm the leak. If it is confirmed, you will have to reseal the gearcase: propshaft seals, driveshaft seals, Carrier o-ring, shift rod gasket and oring. Best to take it to someone what has the correct tools...
