Hello! I just bought an '87 bayliner Capri and the transom is really soft. I know the correct fix is to cut it out, replace the plywood, and glass over it. The thing is I only paid 400 for this boat and only intend to use it for a year or two... Does anyone think it would be a bad idea to just mount steel or aluminum plates over the transom and bolt them together? I was also thinking I could put a couple of brackets thru-hull on steel pipe and bolt the ends to the floor to prevent flexing... Hit me up with your ideas/opinions. Just ready to get out on the water again! Haha. Thanks
