Cooling Sleeve in 1989 MCM 5.7 stuck

While winterizing the engine, I took the plate off of the thermostat to see that it was frozen closed. Took the housing home and finally got the old thermostat out. Since it is pretty cruddy in there, in addition to the gaskets and thermostat on order, I ordered a new sleeve. Now, how do I get the sleeve out?

Jamb a chisel down in there and lean it outward to crush it inward. Once you get going then grab it with some vise grips. When I did mine, I took it and had it glass bead blasted in and out to clean all corrosion. Paint with rustoleum or whatever you prefer. Goodluck!
