1983 470 fresh rebuild having firing issue

Please help i just completely overhauled my 1983 470. Yes i rebuilt it i like this engine. I am trying to fire it up before i winterize to make sure all is good. I am having trouble getting good fire. I have replaced points, condensor, coil, lead wire and the resistor is working however my fire is real weak and intermittent please help at witts end.

Check the voltage from the coil positive terminal to ground with a DVM and see what is shows with the key in the run position, engine off, and while cranking the engine.

The 470 gets its coil voltage from a set of points in the slave solenoid when the starter is turning, so you may have a problem with the points in the slave. Try jumping the coil + directly to the battery + when cranking it over. The voltage at coil + should read the same as the battery + when cranking. Good luck.
