DIY motor installs

Any body know if MERC Suzuki or Yamaha require their midrange motors to be installed by the dealer. I have a 73 starcraft im thinking of getting a 50-70 hp 4 stroke and hanging it on my boat.

No, other than some sort of pre-run setup may be required. Course if you buy a manual to go with your engine it will tell you lots of things about initial engine to boat interface and engine setup.

My Merc manual does.

Mercury does not.

Suzuki did not last year...This year may have changed.

Yamaha did not last year...This year may have changed.

Mercury and Yamaha have an anti shipping policy.

Suzuki is a paper tiger...Theory is no shipping, but they turn a blind eye unless some one complains.
