Does anyone know what these are for?

I purchase a Zodiac MK II GT C yesterday and the previous owner included these two brackets (?). He didn't know their purpose, but they seem like they certainly have one. The end covered with the PVC has a slight curve as if it might conform to a tube. Initially I thought 'fishing pole holders'. but there is a pin that would otherwise block a fishing pole inside of the aluminum tubing. I have the catalog of accessories for Zodiac and these don't resemble anything they were selling at the time. Any ideas?020 (640x480).jpg021 (640x480).jpg

Where is the pin located? It may be there to lock in the fishing rod.

Oar locks? Looks like the bottom (metal part) might mount on the floor?

Otherwise, I'll go with Joe - score a .50 cal and mount it up.

I'm going to go with Bimini mounting hardware too. Seems like the angled insert fits into the nylon seat mounts and the vinyl end of the unit to rest against something like a foot/bottom storage-thingy.

Oar locks is a insightful observation too. Can you post a pic of the pin placement?

Re: Does anyone know what these are for?

I like the 50 cal. theory. The pins are not removable. They are permanently fixed. I can take another photo that shows them. It would be possible to spin the cylinders 180 degrees by unbolting them from the plates. As it stands, the pins essentially block the open end of the tubes at their upper end. I thought it may be a radar arch mount. There are two holes in the flat end furthest from the covered end (for mounting screws?). Thanks for the responses. I wasn't sure if this was some add-on kit that I haven't seen for SIBS and that perhaps someone has seen or used said hardware before.

I like the .50cal theory too! You figure a way to positively mount the turret and I'll bring mine over!

It's a rod holder, but not a OEM Zodiac rod holder.
