tilt and trim unit compatability

i have a 1987 xr2 150 and want to know if a 96-97 tilt and trim unit from a fuel injected merc 150 will interchange? the one i have has the square flange elect motor. not sure about the 96-97. will know this weekend. but if it wont interchange ill just keep looking,. that is the earliest i will be able to look for myself.

check part numbers for transom clamps and mounting shafts. The part numbers for these are very stable across many engines. If the clamps are the same then the trim systems usually swap out without any issues.
