I have a 1987 4.3 Cobra. The main ignition/engine connector shorted the 12 ga red/violet wire that runs to the ignition switch. This happened while the engine was running. The engine kept running fine but will not crank over after it was turned off. The wire cradle holding the connector wore through and grounded the 12 Ga red/violet wire as it enters the connector. According to the shop manual, there is a 20 amp fuse between the connector and the ignition switch on that circuit. I am sure it would be the first thing to go. I looked high and low and can't seem to locate it. Any ideas where it is located???

The 20A fuse should be near the ign. sw. or in the fuse block under the helm, hard to say exactly where your manufacturer put it.

Thanks for the reply. The wire seems to go directly from the engine connector, through one other connector under the helm and directly to the ignition switch. No fuses apparent unless it is some type of inline arrangement which is buried somewhere. I guess I will probe along the line for continuity and find it that way.
