Mercruiser I/O Questions

I'm new too the boating world,can anyone help me.
I have a old Tempest boat not sure of the year,but it has a
Mercruiser I/O on it with a serial number as follows.
Stern Drive serial number 5655402
Motor is MCM 120,153 CID,serial Number 5566262

I'm looking to find out what year this engine and stern drive are.

Need help!

Howdy,

It's really not all that important to know the year model. Mercruiser uses serial numbers to catalog replacement parts so ensure that the serial numbers you have are correct and have a look at the following site.

Then just click on each 120 link and find the serial number range that matches yours.

Also, if you're going to do your own work, get yourself an OEM service manual.

ENGINE manual
DRIVE manual

Download and save.... Better than seloc and cylmer put together....
