I need a little advice I have a 1987 thundercraft citation I/O with a 3.0l merc and a merc alpha 1 outdrive I have now completely rebuilt motor and outdrive but am having an issue with the tilt trim switches (they werent connected when i purchased boat) and cannot find any diagrams on the net to assist i'm running a two switch setup the trim is working I have the trim wires attached to the hydraulic pump my problem is the tilt has no activity when button is depressed. I have a total of four wires (2 pairs taped seperatly I'm assuming one pair for each switch) coming through the gimble housing the blue and purple wires are connected for the trim the pair that has just a red and black is what i'm trying to connect the other switch but have no clue whether they need to be attached to the hydraulic pump or just to power itself. any advice would help even a link to a schematic

Thanks

Re: Issue with tilt and trim

The above diagrams are for relays, not solenoids used by Mercruiser.
Below is a pdf file for troubleshooting your trim/tilts system with the proper wiring diagrams on the last page.

Ayuh,... 1 of 'em is the tilt/ trim Switch,...
The other is the trim gauge sender....
