Re: Engine Rust

Clean, wire brush, clean, metal primer, top coat = paint

If you can not get the rust off use a rust transformer and prime, top coat.

Check it often. If it's ok keep it covered with a anti rust. wd 40 etc.

As mentioned above, clean up the rust, get a stiff wire brush to get as much as you can off and then spray with the correct colour engine paint. WD40 will probably be your best bet to keep the rust away. Do you boat in salt water?

Re: Engine Rust

Once you clean the rust, good ole RustOleam red paint is a good paint to use. After it dries completely, use the Volvo corrosion guard

It works so much better than WD40 which isn't a corrosion guard, and lasts longer too. A can will last you several years and well worth the extra money. I put it in a coffee can full of hot water for a while, makes it spray a lot better. Looks horrible when you first put it on, but once it dries, it's dry waxy finish that looks great and does it's job of protecting.
