There has been lots of threads on this subject but I would like to hear an authoritative reply from someone with lots of current E-10 fuel experience. My 2000 OMC shop manual says to seal the carb welch plugs with gasoila but my concern is that OMC may not have been thinking about the need for E-10 resistance 11 years ago when gasoila was recommended. Can gasoila or any other product (including the old-school use of fingernail polish) standup to E-10? My old welch plugs had no visible sealant on them. Is a welch plug tight enough when properly seated to seal without adding a sealant which may flake off and clog a carb? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Carb welch plug sealant

Pros & cons on this subject but I've always used gasoila. They still had alcohol in the fuel 12 yrs ago. After I installed the pulg I'd put it on top of it to make sure it was sealed as it as it gets very hard.
