high i have a 33 johnson was running shut off. will not start next day. have spark,fuel in carb bowl, compreson is good looked at plugs they are dry

Hey, welcome to iBoats. If your plugs are dry, then you're not getting enough fuel. They should be fairly wet, before the motor will fire.

The best way to do that is to get someone to hold the wire, isn't it? :D:D

Hi marchese. Welcome to iboats. I used to have a '66 33 hp. Great old motors. Have you seen this motor run recently, or are you trying to bring it back to life? As far as getting her to start, try spraying a little fuel/oil mix into each cylinder prior to starting. You should be using 50:1 if it's a '68, but a lot of folks run 24:1 to give a little extra lubrication, especially if the motor's been sitting a while. Here are some great links that can get you going and walk you through an entire tune up of your motor. You can get virtually nay parts you may need right here at iboats. You should be able to get her running like new for less than $100. Holler if you get stuck.
