Re: Question for frank

You will get more opinions on this than stars in the sky.

If the engine is running well with no problems and if it has high compression on all cylinders, why bother to do a decarb?

I think you said in one of your posts frank that TWC 3 oil tends to de carb the engine as you use it so the question is whats it been run on..for how long etc .....

Do a compression test.Any difference between the cylinders? That motor the top/bottom cylinder might read a bit higher than the center two.
If so then maybe a de-carb is in order.
I used Mercury's Power Tune.
Get motor hot.Spray into the cylinders as it runs.Almost causing the motor to stall.
Do this 2 times.Any more and you can strip the oil from the bearings and do dammage.
Then remove the plugs and spray PT into each cylinder.Let set over night.Clean the plugs.
Next day start it up and get it hot.Let run till it stops the extra smoking.
I don't do this unless I'm worried about the compression.
