take it out of the water.
if a lot of water comes out, there's your problem,

Hello:

A little more information is suggested as in Make, Model, Year, HP rating, and if possible serial #. For the best results.

It is very hard to paddle an 18footer, even if it is not waterlogged. I don't even carry paddles for that reason.

Push poles work much better.

Looks like he's new to this site and has a lot of questions.
Answer them or ignore them. You don't get a choice who's on here.
I guess it's a good thing your not a moderator or anyone you think is stupid won't get an answer.Maybe you should be banned!!!
NO STUPID QUESTIONS!!!
Some boats collect water in the foam.As much as a 1000#
I cut up a 21ft Bayliner center console. The compartment drains weren't installed right. The foam in places was up to 12 in. thick. Most was at least 70%-80% saturated.I figured about an extra 700-800#.
Depending on the boat the glass can hold moisture too.
Leave it in a covered area make sure the plug is out and the nose is up.Put a bucket under the drain and see how much water you collect.
ALWAYS include the make model and pics if you want good answers.J

I thought it was "waterlogged" I hear you can drill small holes carefully inside the boat, not through the hull obviously, that you can plug w epoxy or something to check for water (Or drain it out:eek:) If trapped inside wood or foam cored fiberglass stringers or bulkheads or boxed parts of the hull. But I'm no expert. Just look at my sentence structure:eek: Its harder to paddle any larger boat w paddles with out a team of oarsmen, or two oars in oarlocks pulled at once. At best you'll get a painfully slow wobble along with alot of cursing:facepalm:

Squeeze it, if water comes out, it was water logged. :)

the easiest way to check for water logging......is to weigh the boat against manufacturers specs......no fuel....no coolers.....just a boat.....nothing else....

if you are 200 lbs over......well.....time to come to the dry dock here at iboats

I don't get this part "we could barly stay in one place paddling" unless you were paddling against each other?

Anyway, you said Skiff. If it's a sealed hull boat like a carolina skiff or a whaler, you can't drain it, and drying it out is not an option, practically speaking.
