I had the rope break on the pull starter, I've pulled the starter off put new rope and got everything back together but when I pull it isn't engaging the fly wheel. I take it off line up the little plastic thing to go into the groove on the flywheel and it will engage for a second then it won't turn flywheel again. Rope pulls in and out just find so I think everything is good there.

How do I get this thing to lock onto the flywheel again?

Can't tell from here, but there has to be a problem with the friction spring and links to the plastic pawl. It is extremely simple in design so you should be able to figure out the problem.

So if the little white thing isn't kicking back in place then I need to mess with the little springs till it kicks back in place on it's own.

Just make sure you don't have any grease on where the spring attaches to the center to bring out the pawl.
